Whether you are seeking traditional metal braces or clear, ceramic braces, we have a wide range of orthodontic treatment options available to help achieve optimal tooth and jaw alignment.

Types of braces

No matter which treatment option you choose, the team at Grubaugh Orthodontics will help create a beautiful, confident smile for you. Traditional metal braces are often the fastest option for closing gaps and aligning teeth, leading to shorter overall treatment times. Additionally, they are often more cost-effective than other options. Today's braces are stronger, more durable, and more affordable than ever before, making them a top choice for achieving optimal tooth and jaw alignment. With their proven track record over the years, metal braces remain a trusted and effective orthodontic treatment method.

Metal Braces

In addition to their popularity and effectiveness, metal braces typically have a shorter overall treatment time than other options. They're also a cost-effective choice, and their superior strength and durability make them a reliable option for achieving a beautiful, straight smile. With the option to choose colored or clear elastics, metal braces offer a customizable orthodontic experience that can suit anyone's style preferences. Overall, metal braces continue to be a top choice for orthodontic treatment due to their proven track record of success and continued advancements in technology.

Ceramic Braces

Clear, ceramic braces function the same way as traditional metal braces, but with one major difference - their brackets are made from a clear ceramic material instead. This makes them a popular option for those seeking a discreet treatment to achieve a straight, beautiful smile. While they are effective for both upper and lower teeth, they are more commonly used on the upper teeth, which are more visible. Clear braces are often favored by adult and teenage patients, as they offer a more subtle option. However, it's important to note that the brackets on clear braces can be larger and more fragile than metal brackets, so additional care may be required during treatment

Getting to know the process

At Grubaugh Orthodontics, our goal is to help you achieve the smile you've always wanted. Whether you're a teenager or an adult, our personalized orthodontic treatment plans will help you get there. Our friendly team will collect digital x-rays, photos, and a model of your mouth to create a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs. We'll determine the specific movements needed to achieve optimal teeth positioning and decide how to place your brackets.

Once your braces are attached, a wire will be inserted into the brackets to provide pressure on your teeth that need to be moved. Through a gradual process called remodeling, the wire's bends will encourage precise movements to achieve your desired results. This process also involves minor changes in the bone surrounding your teeth's roots. When your braces apply pressure to your teeth, osteoblasts and osteoclasts form around the roots to create negative pressure on one side of the tooth where bone will be removed. On the other side, the bone is reformed.

Remodeling requires constant pressure on your teeth, which means they may drift back towards their old positions over time once your braces are removed. To prevent this, you'll need to use a retainer regularly to help keep your teeth in their new positions.
