Meet Dr. Ed Grubaugh, your Lansing Orthodontist

After earning his bachelor’s degree in only three years, he was accepted at the University of Michigan’s School of Dentistry, where he would go on to graduate at the top of his class. He earned his Master’s of Science in Oral Biology while specializing in orthodontics at The Ohio State University.
Dr. Grubaugh is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (Only one-third of all orthodontists are board-certified). His research interests include digital orthodontic imaging and how technology can make orthodontic treatment more efficient. A leading orthodontic journal recently published some of his research. Why an Orthodontist in Lansing? Orthodontist vs. Dentist
An orthodontist is a dentist, but a dentist is not an Orthodontist. All orthodontists are dentists first, even though not every dentist is qualified to be an orthodontist. Dr. Grubaugh, like all orthodontists, has to continue their formal education for 2 or 3 additional years before receiving the necessary license and certification. As an orthodontist, Dr. Grubaugh has spent years studying nothing but how and why to move teeth. This includes what to do, how to plan, and how to execute the appropriate treatment plan.
Why does it matter if you see your Grubaugh Orthodontist?
Dentists receive basic orthodontic training which allows them to perform root canals, extract wisdom teeth, and treating young children who do not yet need to see an orthodontist. However, specialists receive additional training to give them the skills needed to deal with more complex orthodontic problems.
Seeing a specialist like an orthodontist may change your experience in braces by:
- Providing more treatment options, with a variety of braces or therapies to choose from
- Having personal experience treating multiple cases that share your unique concern and anatomical characteristics.
- More efficient treatment and visits, because it is the office’s focus area of care.
- Knowing that you’ll receive the best possible outcome on your treatment plan, especially if you have severe bite discrepancies that need to be addressed.
- Being seen more quickly, as a family dentist will be focused on longer patient cases or emergencies throughout the day.
While some may think individuals may think it’s easier to have their orthodontic work completed by their dentist, but convenience shouldn’t be a problem, because you will only be stopping by your Lansing orthodontic offices every six to eight weeks.
And don’t let price be a problem either! Grubaugh Orthodontics is proud to provide affordable treatment in the Lansing area.
Testimonials from your Lansing orthodontist patients
I have two young children and my insurance was not going to cover any of the costs at all. I was given the choice to get two implants put in or get two bridges. So I asked about seeing an orthodontist. I'm SO glad I asked! I went in for my first visit and was told what to expect, the do's and don'ts of wearing braces, and the affordable monthly cost. The staff is so fun and friendly. They are always doing wonderful things for the community. Very pleased with my experience here! Also, the patient portal is SO convenient for checking when my next appointment is or checking my remaining balance and making payments. I love the website too! If my kids end up needing braces, I know where we will go!! Dr. Grubaugh and his staff are amazing!!
Dr. Grubaugh and his staff are super welcoming and kind every time I go into the office. The care my child has received is top-notch and I never felt any pressure to begin care until We were ready. I truly feel like all the staff and doctors really care about the patients and the community as a whole.
I highly recommend this office to my friends and family and look forward to my next visit!
